1) Review last week’s story
*Moses and his brother, Aaron, went to pharaoh to ask him to let God’s people go. He refused. So God sent 10 plagues over Egypt. He caused the river to turn to blood, frogs, gnats, flies, sick animals, boils, hailstorms, locusts, darkness and death. After each plague pharaoh still refused to let the people go. Only when his own son died did he finally let them go.

*Show the picture cards. Ask the children to identify each one and put them in the correct order


2) Story
Escape from Egypt
Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. During the day, God went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud. 
During the night, God went ahead of them in a pillar of fire. God led the Israelites to the edge of the Red Sea. Pharaoh and his army were close behind. The Israelites did not know what to do. They screamed, “We are trapped! What have you done to us, Moses?” Moses said, “Do not be afraid.

God will protect us.” God’s cloud came between the Israelites and Pharaoh’s army. They could not see anything!

God told Moses, “Raise your staff over the sea.” Then God pushed back the sea to make a path.
Moses and the Israelites follow the path through the sea to the other side. But Pharaoh’s army followed close behind. 

Moses raised his staff again and ther sea swept away Pharaoh and his army. Moses and all the Israelites sang praises to God. They were free! They weren’t slaves anymore!

Food from Heaven
The Israelites travelled for many days. They were tired and hungry. They complained to Moses,
There is nothing to eat in the desert. At least we had food in Egypt! Now we are starving!”

God heard them. That evening, God sent birds called quail for the Israelites to eat. The next morning, God sent bread from heaven. It was called manna and tasted like honey. The Israelites found the manna on the ground. But they complained again: “We are thirsty!”

Moses asked God what to do. God said, “Hit the rock with your staff.” When Moses hit it, cool, fresh water gushed out for everyone to drink. While they were in the desert, the Israelites would not go hungry or thirsty again.


3) Discussion

*How did God show the people the way to go during the day?

* What did God do when Pharaoh’s army came?
He put the cloud between them
Moses raised his staff and parted the sea, so the people could walk across.
When the army came God closed the sea on them.
* What did God send them to eat?
Birds called quail and bread
from heaven called manna
* How did they get water?
Moses
struck a rock with his staff and water came

God is with us every day even if we don’t know it. He helps and protects us because He loves us.
When we learn God’s words and try to be good, God is very happy. That is why you must listen to God’s words and be good children to your parents.


4) Activities
