1) Introduction to Restoration History
* From the moment Adam and Eve fell, God has been working to bring His children back and restore His ideal. How has God worked? Fallen man must reverse the mistakes that were made. What were Adam and Eve’s first mistake? Disobedience. They disobeyed God’s commandment. Therefore to restore the relationship with God, fallen man must be obedient to God’s commandments. God chose special people, who could absolutely obey him and separate themselves from Satan. Through these chosen people God has worked to expand his influence in the fallen world.

* There have been three stages of restoration – The Old, New and Completed Testaments. Restoration History shows step by step how God has worked through chosen people to restore the failure of Adam and Eve.

2) Old Testament Age
In the Bible there are many stories from the Old Testament Age. God worked through chosen people called the Israelites. Which Bible characters do you know? What did they do?

Can you name the Bible characters and put them in the correct order?

1. Noah – built the ark
2. Abraham – God promised him as many descendants as there are stars in the sky
3. Jacob – Jacob was Abraham’s son. In a dream God said to him, “I will give you and your descendants this land. All people on earth will be blessed through you. Later God changed his name to Israel
4. Joseph – Joseph was Jacob’s favourite son. One night Joseph had a dream, in which his brothers’s sheaves of wheat bowed down to his.
5. Moses – God gave Moses the 10 commandments on two tablets of stone
6. Joshua – Joshua led the Israelites around Jericho and the walls fell down
7. Samuel – God spoke to Samuel many times. He became a great prophet and leader in Israel
8. King Saul – Samuel annointed Saul as the first king of Israel
9. King David – David defeated Goliath. Later he became the second king of Israel
10.King Solomon – Solomon, became the third king of Israel and built the first temple
11.Elijah – Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal, when he made a fire out of an offering soaked in water

3) New Testament Age
God prepared the chosen people of Israel to receive the Messiah. Jesus came as the Messiah. Through Jesus God gave new words of truth. God wanted Jesus’ followers to obey His word, so they could be restored back to the ideal.

He gave two commandments;
1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself
But Jesus was crucified and he could not fulfill his mission. Jesus’ followers called Christians, became the new chosen people. For 2,000 years Christians have been waiting for the second coming of the Messiah

4) Completed Testament Age
Today Sun Myung Moon is the new chosen person. He is the second coming of the Messiah. His mission is to finish what Jesus started, restore the failures of Adam and Eve and build the ideal world. He brings new words from God, called The Divine Principle. To restore the ideal, God wants all people to obey His word.
