GETTING DEEP

You can do this exercise two ways

  • By meeting new people in the surrounding area

  • By getting deeper with the people at youth group

Option 1: Meeting New People

  1. Put youth into groups of 3.

    • It might also be a good idea to include a staff member in each of these groups if possible.

  2. Challenge the groups to approach 1-3 people each in the surrounding area (choose the right challenge for your group) and talk to them about one of the following topics:

    • Who is God to you?

    • How do you feel loved by others?

    • What is something you care about?

  3. Meet back up and share stories from the experience and discuss:

    • What was most challenging about the experience?

    • What were you most surprised by?

Option 2: Getting Deeper at Youth Group

  1. Put the youth into small groups

  2. Have each person choose one of these topics to share about with the group:

    • Who is God to you?

    • How do you feel loved by others?

    • What is something you care about?

  3. To practice active listening: have the other members of the group share which part of that person’s sharing resonated with them most.
