GETTING DEEP
You can do this exercise two ways
By meeting new people in the surrounding area
By getting deeper with the people at youth group
Option 1: Meeting New People
Put youth into groups of 3.
It might also be a good idea to include a staff member in each of these groups if possible.
Challenge the groups to approach 1-3 people each in the surrounding area (choose the right challenge for your group) and talk to them about one of the following topics:
Who is God to you?
How do you feel loved by others?
What is something you care about?
Meet back up and share stories from the experience and discuss:
What was most challenging about the experience?
What were you most surprised by?
Option 2: Getting Deeper at Youth Group
Put the youth into small groups
Have each person choose one of these topics to share about with the group:
Who is God to you?
How do you feel loved by others?
What is something you care about?
To practice active listening: have the other members of the group share which part of that person’s sharing resonated with them most.
Relevant Debrief: Don’t be afraid of getting deep with friends and letting them see another side of you. Many of your friends may be interested in what we do at youth group!
