UNDERSTANDING WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE LOVE

Theme: Contribute

Approximate time: 1 hour

Preface; Speaker: “Contribute is about how you can express your talents, your love, and your heart to add value to the world and make it a better place. Here is a video on the world’s leading expert on this topic.”

*watch video “Kid President: How to change the world” https://youtu.be/4z7gDsSKUmU

After video discussion question; How did this video make you feel?

Speaker: “God gave you the potential to love and feel love. You have the god given responsibility to love. A plane is made with the potential to fly, but until it will never live up to its potential until it actually takes off.”

Group Question 1; How can you contribute to the world with your love? (5-7 min)

Follow up questions; Who around you can you love? (5-7 min)

Ask for some to share

How can you love those that are closest to you?

Response-> Often times it is to express your heart to them. It doesn’t have to be a big expensive gift, but just a few sincere words from the heart will do.

Reflection time;

Who in your life has been a great positive influence to you? Write a letter to them

*play reflection music, hand out paper and pens, have staff make sure kids are focused at the same time writing their own (10-20min)

Thank everyone for writing, have them pair up and share (10 min)

Speaker: “You have this potential to love and contribute in your hands, in your words, what do you think your responsibility is to do? Response-> to give it to them”

*watch video; “Soul Pancake: experiment in gratitude” https://youtu.be/oHv6vTKD6lg “

For the rest of the time, on your own, call the person right now and read to them what you wrote. If they don’t pick up, leave a message, if they’re passed to the spirit world, pray to them out loud.”

*staff during this time make sure kids are focused and not disruptive

*Reiterate that people will only get back from this experience what they put into it.

*Don’t be too strict or force anyone to participate but be gentle with the whole experience, if they themselves don’t feel empowered but forced to do this, it won’t be their own. It’s about encouraging them to listen to the part of their heart that wants to love these people who they wrote about.
