God’s purpose was to prepare a nation to receive the Messiah. First a foundation of faith and Substance had to be made. It took three attempts before the Israelites could make that foundation of substance and enter Canaan. The main reason is because the people in the position of Cain did not unite with Moses in the position of Abel.
